  1. If Congress does not act, an estimated 7 billion people now alive will die by the turn of the next century.

  2. https://www.jamesgmartin.center/2022/07/how-ut-austin-administrators-destroyed-an-intellectual-diversity-initiative/

What has to happen, and will not happen, is a piece of statutory law which restructures UT Austin in such a way that every person responsible for this travesty is out on the curb. Republican state legislators do nothing to fix public higher education even when they have the chance. Nor do they do anything to change the corporate governance model of private higher education so as to require they be supervised by small boards elected by alumni registered to vote in the state in question.

  3. Fascinating video.

I’ve wondered whether the evolutionary progression leading to humans (a pinnacle?) was connected to the duration and difficulty of gestation, usually difficult single births as opposed to litters, and slowness of child rearing.

Mr. Milo only touches slightly on that topic about 2/3 or 3/4 into the video. Smaller skulls make childbirth easier. OK, what else? It’s only a hint of an explanation. Plus, there is the blockbuster fact of the video: Most of the change happened in the last 3K years. That’s some lightning quick evolution.

  4. Democrats call out their own.

    From NPR:
“Democrats are buying ads supporting far-right GOP primary candidates, in the hopes of facing them in the general election …”

    From the WaPo:
“Which is why it is not just shameless, but dangerous, that Democrats have spent tens of millions this year promoting Republican extremists.”

    Reprehensible?

  5. TommyJay – Notice that it’s the Trumpy candidates who are getting a boost from Democrats. In the PA governor race Trump actually swooped in and endorsed the guy that Democrats were boosting.

Democrats want to run against Trump and Trumpy candidates. They think it’s their best chance to win.

  6. Another possible explantion may be a general increase in structural efficiency within the brains of modern humans. For example, it seems that neurons in humans have far fewer ion channels than other animals. Also humans have a lower density of neurons in our prefrontal cortex relative to other animals, which evidently allows for far more room for connective fibers. So maybe the modern human brain is simply able to do far more with a smaller volume than our ancestors.

  7. As opposed to the candidates who voted to send the bureau to school board meetings (garland) to abandon americans in afghanistan (austin) and leave the border a bloody gash (mayorkas)

  8. Bauxite:

“Trumpy” is in the eye of the beholder, but I can assure you that Democrats don’t want to run against the Trumpy DeSantis.

  9. Good short piece by Ben Shapiro.

The Democratic Party moved away from moral condemnation of abortion because Democrats now believe that human happiness is rooted in subjective self-definition, particularly with regard to sexual activity; that biology, particularly pregnancy and childbearing, is an active imposition on such a vision of human happiness; and that abortion is therefore a sacrament to be protected….Few Americans outside of solid blue areas agree with these bizarre and ugly notions.

  10. Interesting Nonapod. But would that be likely to occur over a 3K year time span?
    ______

    Bauxite,
Yes. The Dems clearly want to push the “right-wing extremist” meme. The California governor recall election campaigning was based almost entirely on Trump’s supposed radioactivity, at least in the ads I saw.

  11. Neo,
I fear the Democrats are spending tens of millions on background and opposition research on DeSantis. We can hope that his background is squeaky clean, but even that may not be an insurmountable obstacle. Now they just lie. He is going to need a serious “war room” operation if he runs for the presidency.
    _____

Another aspect to this Dems campaigning for Republicans story is that it suggests that the Dem party is flush with cash.

  12. neo – I agree that Dems don’t want to run against DeSantis, but he’s not the kind of candidate Dems are spending money promoting. Doug Mastriano is nobody’s RINO.

  13. Agree fascinating video I probably wouldn’t have watched if it came up.

Leftist through time push any movement against them as a society attack as if their group is the leader of society but almost every ti,e they are a minority.

  14. “Why did our brains shrink”

So Joe Biden is the pinnacle of human evolution.

  15. TommyJay,

That is the most noteworthy data point in the video.

“Democrats are buying ads supporting far-right GOP primary candidates, in the hopes of facing them in the general election …”

It would truly be the height of irony if the democrats prove to be the decisive factor in removing RINO’s from elected office and changing the Republican party into a party willing to fight for Constitutional principles…

“Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake.” Napoleon Bonaparte

Among the many things that democrats don’t grasp is how their radical policies and propositions are the decisive factor in why so many of their formerly supportive voters now share Ronald Reagan’s point of view. Asked why, after so many years, he had left the Democrat Party, he famously responded; “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me.”
