The January 6th production number… — 12 Comments

  1. The entire spectacle was a disgrace, well-described by many as positively Soviet in its totalitarian mendacity. It is not easy to determine which augurs worse for our ailing republic, the synergy between the government (especially the “Deep State”), the MSM, and Big Tech (along with much of corporate America) in waging war on all Americans who refuse to accept the lies of the current illegitimate regime, or the willingness of so much of the citizenry not only to accept the outrageous falsehoods produced by the kakistocracy which is currently in power, but to exult in the mistreatment of the ideological enemy, many Democrats being content with the murder of Ashli Babbitt and unconcerned with the vile conditions being endured in DC’s Gitmo by the J6 defendants.

  2. Yeah, just saw an online comment from a progressive friend who is totally freaked out, says she won’t be able to sleep tonight, “almost lost our democracy,” etc. Someone at National Review poses the question: what are we actually meant to *do* in response? The riot happened, and many of the rioters are in jail. What do you intend to do? Charge Trump with treason? You’ve known everything in this “hearing” for a long time, so why have you not charged him? I swear, these people make me think of the kind of justice often practiced in earlier times, when it wasn’t enough to kill the criminal, it was also important to abuse the corpse.

Of course I do realize that it’s all about this fall’s elections, distraction, etc. I doubt they are making an impact among people who weren’t already going to vote for them, though.

  3. I don’t know how much hanky-panky went on in the 2020 election but to me, that’s beside the point. There are two absolute and inarguable facts that matter more.

    1. Donald Trump was subject to perhaps the most unfair and vile treatment in the history of American politics. Virtually the entire political and media establishment promoted and perpetuated a 100% BS conspiracy theory about Russian collusion to smear, undermine, and poison Trump’s entire Presidency. What happened to Trump is like Watergate if there was no break-in. It’s like Clinton/Lewinsky but if Clinton and Lewinsky had never even been in the same room.

    2. On essentially the eve of the election, virtually the entire political and media establishments, with a boost from the U.S. intelligence community, conspired to censor, silence, and suppress a 100% true and legitimate story about Joe Biden’s son that directly involved Biden himself.

Forget everything else. Those two things alone prove to me the 2020 election was neither freely nor fairly contested. Yet both have been flushed down the memory hole.

I read some doofus on Twitter complaining about Democrats blasting the Supreme Court and Trump whining about the election as though they were two sides of the same coin. He wrote he was speaking truths no one wanted to hear. The reality is that he’s a dilettante poseur who claims to care about things but only cares about basking in the wonderfulness of himself.

  4. In a reciprocal reverse to the Brooksian movie plot, these Congressional Producers best be careful what they wish for: planning a giant hit, they may justly come a cropper.

  5. The committee is a shanm. In our system of justice, we allow both sides to have their say and present evidence. This is a kangaroo court with only the “prosecution’s” narrative presented.

Much has been made of their theme – “To make sure this never happens again!” And yet, they have done NO investigations of the pre-rally intelligence and the lack of preparations for the possibility of violence. Had Pelosi, Schumer, and Mayor Bowser accepted the offer of 20,000 National Guard troops from POTUS Trump, most violence would have been avoided or squelched rather quickly. The Democrat leadership wanted this to happen. In fact, the rally was full of agents provocateurs from the FBI. Instead, they are choregraphing a narrative of an attempted violent overthrow of the government by a bunch of MAGA monsters who are white supremacists, populists (gasp) and all commanded by TRUMP!

The case they have built against Trump does not hold water. In fact, it’s laughable. They even showed video of Trump saying he would be very disappointed in Pence if he did not reject the states electoral counts. Someone who was planning to violently overthrow the government would not have allowed Pence to act freely to do whatever he felt was correct. He would have made sure Pence was going to do his bidding.

And has anyone ever heard of an insurrection that didn’t first take over the TV and radio stations? And brought plenty of guns and ammo? And actually had a plot? Or had a chain of command? Compared to the BLM/ANTIFA riots of 2020, this was a panty raid.

  6. JJ (5:53 pm) asks, rhetorically, with respect to the laughable notion that the political right is coup-ing d’état,

“And has anyone ever heard of an insurrection that didn’t first take over the TV and radio stations?”
The left has done that (sans Fox News and a handful of smaller outfits).

“And brought plenty of guns and ammo?”
The left has taken over D.O.J., F.B.I., C.I.A., and many police departments, AND U.S.A.’s military.

    “And actually had a plot?”
They are already using various tactics to bring USA to its knees. We see elements of the overarching plot in penumbras and emanations of what we all are witnessing.

“Or had a chain of command?”
Left as an exercise for the reader . . .

  7. I had lunch with my science buddies today, all of them libs. They’re all harmless nice guys. When they started on the hearings I asked them if they knew: Trump had offered Pelosi Nat. Guard, and been tuned down twice; that the vet, Ashely Babbit, had been shot in the back and killed by the Capital Police Officer; that a woman had been beaten to death by police; that the head of BLM from Idaho had been recorded inciting the crowd? They said no to every one and then changed the topic.

  8. I’ve never had trouble making and keeping friends. Nevertheless now, noting allusions to “friends” of our hostess and readers who swallow the January 6 agitpoop and other leftist bilgewater, I’ll admit to having been worn down to the point where I can only remark, “You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!”

  9. Thanks, MJR, for making those points. Yes, the left is actually doing what they’re accusing Trump of doing. And it’s not going to be easy to turn it around. We have to try. I’m like an old, toothless lion roaring at the wind, but I do what I can.

  10. I wonder what will happen to Liz Cheney after this. People on the right seem to assume she will lose her race and then get a job someplace like MSNBC. Others seem to think she might stay in politics and become a Dem. Based on her own behavior, it seems she imagines the GOP will roll back time and the RINO caucus will win and drive Trump out.

But yesterday I saw a tweet from a leftist I follow (for writing, not politics) that suggested Cheney will be left in the dust. The tweet compared Cheney to Stalin, and the current Dems to FDR and Churchill! Here it is:
