  1. They are going to be terrible for more reasons than just photos.
However, along those lines, think about trying to collect Grandma’s old texts for the family history book.

  2. In case anyone was interested in putting a number on the profit motives surrounding COVID and vaccinations, …

    From Dow Jones
By Jared S. Hopkins and Matt Grossman

Pfizer Inc. expects sales for its Covid-19 vaccine this year to reach about $33.5 billion, a nearly 30% increase from its forecast three months ago, as the shot plays a growing role in the global campaign to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

  3. TommyJay,

And remember that every time Scott Gottlieb expounds on the vaccine that he is on the board of Pfizer.

  4. Some of those terrible old people were terrible young people when Neo experienced the incident she describes today in her Capitol Riot testimony post.
“It was at that point, thirty years ago, that I realized something had gone very very wrong. I hadn’t been among college-age students for twenty years, but there had been some sort of vast sea change that I didn’t understand at the time.”

  5. You had better stick with your old doctors too.
    https://notthebee.com/article/you-might-think-im-making-this-us-but-a-medical-professor-seriously-stopped-class-to-apologize-for-saying-pregnant-women

The young ones are part of the cohort that thinks being offended or frightened is a legally criminalizable event (see the Capitol investigation post).

“Yes, a medical professional who is responsible for teaching the next generation of physicians in our nation felt the necessity to profusely apologize for the GRIEVOUS SIN of saying only WOMEN can gestate and deliver babies.

..during an online forum, one student called a professor out for using terms such as “male” and “female” and began crying.

To end, let’s circle back like Jen Psaki to a different part of this prof’s email:

“The worst thing that I can do as a human being is be offensive.”

No, the worst thing you can do is to not speak the truth, followed by cowardice and abuse.

Overall, I think medical teachers need to skip the lessons on pregnancy for the moment. Neither they nor their students are ready for such advanced lessons.

I think they should start with lessons about having a spine.”

  6. I had heard the name Scott Gottlieb, but was uncertain of the details.

Scott Gottlieb is an American physician and investor who served as the 23rd commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration from 2017 until April 2019. He is presently a resident fellow at the conservative think tank the American Enterprise Institute, a partner at the venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates, a member of the board of directors of drug maker Pfizer, Inc, …

  7. TommyJay,

Yes, Gottlieb has been all over CNBC the last year and a half and is always brought on as ‘former FDA head under Trump’ to then doom and gloom every thing but that changed when the Pfizer vax came out and he started touting it. He even went too far the other way saying Covid would be virtually gone this summer because of the vaccine.

  8. @AesopFan:

“However, along those lines, think about trying to collect Grandma’s old texts for the family history book.”

Even better idea. This the one case where you *do* want to upload the whole shebang to Google Docs and have it be assimilated by the Borg and the Five Eyes and everyone else with their fingers in our private individual pies.

That way, if and when General AI becomes a thing and SkyNet becomes self-aware, Grandma gets to be a small corner of the vast corpus of hoovered up data in the Consciousness which goes out and plasters our galaxy with strip malls and Taco Bells. Immortality!

I first had this thought when an elderly relative sent me a transcript via Google Docs of my late Grandfather’s taped reminiscences.

Just gotta give Xenu a wide berth while you’re out there 😀

  9. “Biden Frees Al Qaeda Commander Who Blew Up Buddhas”

    http://www.danielgreenfield.org/2021/07/biden-frees-al-qaeda-commander-who-blew.html

“When the Taliban and its Al Qaeda allies blew up two giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan,it put the Jihadist alliance on the world’s radar even before the September 11 attacks.

The destruction of the statues was widely condemned by just about everyone. Even Democrats.

Now, Joe Biden has decided to free an Al Qaeda commander who helped bomb the statues.”

Now imagine if he’d bombed the Buddhas *and* erected a Ben & Jerry’s in their stead.. That’d take a Galaxy of Gaons and a Raft of Responsa to untangle!

  10. More from the Can Do Department:

There’s currently a Taliban delegation visiting Beijing. They’re there to make a deal. Basically they won’t harbour Chinese Uighur separatists and China won’t tell them not to sodomise little boys and farm animals and won’t try to force them to throw out thousands of years of Tradition and become de-racinated GloboHome Pod People. It’s a win-win.

It’s not nice. It’s a bit grim. But it’s how adults conduct diplomacy. And it didn’t cost trillions of wasted dollars and a swimming pool or three full of Flyover People’s Blood, guts and limbs. Some could do well to learn from it.

  11. Absolutely fascinating.

I post a comment here about China’s move to institute new laws in PRC Proper and Hong Kong legal systems outlawing compliance by companies operating in these jurisdictions with US Sanctions against China or Chinese Individuals. I mention that this sounds not totally unlike anti-BDS legislation in the USA… Forgot to mention that at least the Chinese Laws are aimed at protecting *Chinese* interests (radical concept, I know).

Imagine my surprise when I come back an hour or so later and find that my comment has disappeared…

It’s only a matter of time before Chinese own enough US State politicians to have a bunch of US States outlaw any China Boycotts, Divestments, or Sanctions.

The more immediate question, though… Is how long this comment sticks around for 🙂

  12. Neo’s Far East correspondent (while captive in fortune cookie factory) still manages to bring the kraken.

  13. @LeClerc:

My mission is to Bring Home the Bacon, Good Sir.

What Kraken? Ain’t no Kraken. Cantonese ate the last of those a while back. Thing was so big it caused a global shortage of XO Sauce and a run on Carlsberg to wash it down.

But there’s still a White Whale out here… and Captain Om is on his case. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show (Unlike yours which tanked.. geddit? geddit?).

  14. According to the tenets of current literary criticism, it’s clear that Captain Ahab is the first Woke Yankee whaling captain in recorded history—clearly trying to atone for all our “1619 Project” sins while committed to his own self destruction; a cautionary tale, no doubt.

No doubt the belugas are getting really nervous. Oh well, there goes the whale watching season on the St. Lawrence…. (not that the Delta variant was helping matters any).
…Did someone mention the Delta variant?
    https://fee.org/articles/despite-delta-alarmism-us-covid-deaths-are-at-lowest-level-since-march-2020-harvard-and-stanford-professors-explain/
…and in “Antibody Dependent Enhancement” news (OTOH, maybe one shouldn’t even think about going there….):
