The Babylon Bee… — 12 Comments

1. Mr. Tennyson?
Good Lord….
And so, since 1851,
‘Tis better to have lied and lost
Than never to have lied at all….’

apparently…
A bit too long to fit inside that little itty bitty box, so that had to settle for the nonsensical “All the news that’s fit to print”

Of course the REAL reason the NYT decided to fool around with the Bee is pure jealously—the jealousy of the jaded. For the NYT was, itself, once a proud newspaper of satire that kinda calcified and got so staid and self-congratulatory that it would have trouble finding the naked Truth if it were staggering down 8th Ave. and 41st St. dressed in DayGlo pink body paint.

Anyway, here’s the article (from that once great—satirical—paper that is now such a bad joke) that’s funny enough to make any mortal chortle:

And it may well have been downhill from there…
(Always had some great sports writers, though. And excellent weather maps.)

2. Outfits like Comedy Central have created a whole new genre of politics pretending to comedy and comedy pretending to be politics. All from the left, until people like Greg Gutfeld caught on. You mean to tell me that the left doesn’t have monopoly on this facile bait-and-switch tactic anymore? Tsk.

3. OK, that was weird funny. I laughed because there was no email on my screen from Dana Green. Oh, but there is an email from Mr. Green after a page refresh. It’s less funny that way.

4. Too little, too late. The narrative with the NYT’s readership is already set.

5. Someone recommended the Jordan Peterson / Bari Weiss interview a few days ago. It is quite good. Here’s the segment dealing directly with her decision to leave the Times:
__________________________________________

JP: What happened when you decided to leave the Times?

BW: Well there was a kind of forced ideological conformity that was happening and it became like a battle to get any piece through that didn’t conform to the narrative.

Weiss is now a hero of mine.

The silly part of my brain can’t resist translating her name into American and getting “Barry White,” the wonderful sexy black crooner.

6. Jeez. They are beyond parody.

Have they ever accused Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert or the entire Hollywood “comedy” industry of trafficking in “misinformation in the guise of satire?”
The answer of course is “No,” and not just because those people aren’t as sharp as the Bee.
It’s because those people are pumping out propaganda. Which the NYT approves of.

7. The out-of-court settlements with non-disclosure clauses are starting to add up, I guess.

Eagerly awaiting the selective leaking of same, by the way.

8. I love the Bee. Today they “announced” an executive order from Gov. Abbott giving Austin to California.

9. “Today they “announced” an executive order from Gov. Abbott giving Austin to California.”
Texas should be so lucky.
