  1. Here in blue state WA the powers that be are flummoxed by the CDC. King County is afraid, very afraid, and may enact STRICTER mask mandates and King Jay has been thinking, thinking, thinking for days now about what the state will do.

What an embarrassment this state is.

  2. Griffin:

Our pastor rewrote his sermon last Sunday after King Jay couldn’t commit and then proposed (Zeus speaks from Olympia?) guidance for seating in churches based on worshiper’s vaccination status. That appeared to be the last straw from our dear king. Well, it is about time; the pastor said we would not be a mask police or segregate believers into the “clean” and “unclean.” Don’t know yet what the “COVID Taskforce” of our church will recommend as a response to King Jay.

None the less the pastor had to show how “unbiased” he was in his reasoning and outlook. He said in the sermon: “I’m not a Democrat or Republican. I read the NY Times, WA Post, watch the major networks, CNN, and Fox News to get a balanced and view of things.” I stifled my laughter.

  3. Griffen,

I know that leftists are not known for being rational, but it’s amusing to see them have their religion knocked out from under them. The religion being “Believing in Science!” All the ones I know have no clue as to what real science is about.

  4. Even without a gun/knife/club you’re not unarmed which is why we have “strong-arm robbery.” It is the use it is put to that makes something an “arm” that normally wouldn’t be considered such.

  5. Update on the solar project in Saunders county; west of Omaha.

The County Board voted 6-0 and approved the conditional use permit for a 500 acre industrial solar facility in rural Nebraska. The Planning Commission voted 5-1 to deny the conditional use permit. That’s where I first popped the developer in the face.

The County’s own regulations state that the conditional use permit “shall be in harmony with the character of the area and the most appropriate use of the land.” I hammered that legal point, but it was ignored. Solar panels are not in harmony with farms, houses and a cemetery.

A lawyer from Lincoln had a group of paying clients. I was never able to sign one up, so I technically did not lose.

My strong view is that the Deep State and GOPe extends to Saunders County, Nebraska. The County Board and proponents wanted that $300k in extra tax money. Cf, the $26m in federal investment tax credit for the Masters of the Universe.

I’m bitterly disappointed. I expected better from the all Republican County Board. I thought they would follow the law. DDB surprised again!

  6. Some more on my Deep State comment. The Omaha Public Power District will buy the power from this solar facility. OPPD has $4b in assets. They backed this strongly.

A slick Dem lawyer-lobbyist with Big Law in Omaha really lobbied this thing in advance. This guy has done 15-20 wind and solar projects in Nebraska. At least he had some opposition here. IMO, he has written some of the NE law on wind and solar projects. The Dems have too much influence in the NE Legislature.

When I hear that solar is “renewable” I want to choke. The Left has done a great job selling this to the masses. I got into it with a Sierra Club guy. He’s apparently in favor of Chinese slave labor. I told them the Left has been wrong about global warming for 40 years. And he had the gall to assert that I was wrong.

I’m really incensed over this. More so because I didn’t get paid a dime.

  7. Elise Stefanik should by whipping the Republican Party in the House into a fury over the hundreds of American political prisoners being held in prison without trial, by the Democrat Gestapo-General Eric Garland! It is disgusting to see such a perversion of American justice, and the fact that the Republicans are not raising holy hell about it. Biden’s creation of a Gestapo should lead to his impeachment, and jail for him and Garland!!

  8. RVD:

The federal magistrates and judges who won’t even allow bond to be posted should all be impeached. This is a total outrage. The Rule of Law gets ignored again.

  9. The “Biden”—make that the “Fentanyl”—administration apparently feels it hasn’t created enough crises yet…and so, it’s time for another:
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/texas-gov-abbott-says-intercepted-fentanyl-us-border-saw-800-increase

    The reason?
Well, the more crises you create, the more you have to crack down so as to “control” them. (IOW chaos as opportunity.)
And/or the more crises you create, the more opposition to them is voiced; with the result that those who do criticize the situation can be targeted as potential threats to national security. That is, there will be more targets to pinpoint. More people to “help” get re-educated and “in-line”, so to speak.

This is Democratic Party win-win-win all around.
Gotta hammer down those nails (but first you have to find them).

    “For the People”.

  10. Last thing. The Sierra Club guy was just fine with Chinese slaves making the solar panels. Puke.

  11. Cornhead, so the Omaha Public Power District will pay good money to help destabilize its electricity grid.

  12. Here in outstate Michigan the only electric company is Consumers Energy. They started “going green” back in the Obama years. Their rates have already gone up around 15% over the past year and a couple of weeks ago they sent out a letter letting us know that from June 1st to Sept. 30th all electricity used between 2 pm and 7 pm, Monday through Friday will have a 50% surcharge added to it.

  13. We’ll see if further protests erupt over that Elizabeth City, NC, shooting. The DA has said consistently that Brown used his car as a weapon against the officers, who were there to serve arrest and search warrants. Brown had a long criminal history including resisting arrest, which is why several officers went to serve the warrants. The family, naturally, say it was unjustified. The DA showed clips today of Brown driving his car into officers.

  14. Biden’s creation of a Gestapo should lead to his impeachment…

    and

The federal magistrates and judges who won’t even allow bond to be posted should all be impeached.

I’m sure Nancy Pelosi will get right on that.

  15. I want to be able to buy electricity from Warren Buffett’s MidAmerican Energy because it is 13% cheaper than OPPD. But I can’t.

Liberal groupthink is a powerful thing. And the GOPe won’t push back. The Saunders county board was thrilled with the extra tax money.

  16. After years of listening to Democrats call anyone they disagree with a Nazi, we now have an administration that is objectively following Nazi tactics! What the hell are we going to do about it?!

  17. Regarding all the mixed signals and false starts about masks, this is illuminating. In the UK, scientists on a key Covid board are admitting that they purposely manipulated public opinion to scare people.
    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/government-scientific-advisors-admit-using-totalitarian-fear-tactics-control-people

One scientist with the SPI-B admits that “In March [2020] the Government was very worried about compliance and they thought people wouldn’t want to be locked down. There were discussions about fear being needed to encourage compliance, and decisions were made about how to ramp up the fear.”

The unnamed scientist adds that “The way we have used fear is dystopian.”

The scientist further confessed that “The use of fear has definitely been ethically questionable. It’s been like a weird experiment. Ultimately, it backfired because people became too scared.”

  18. Well, today was our day to go to Costco. They now have a new policy. No masks required for vaccinated people. Whoopee! And it’s all on your honor. No checking vaccine cards. Felt good – almost back to normal except for the number of people who were wearing masks. A surprising number of gray panthers were wearing masks. I wondered if they had not been able to get vaccinated yet, or were they still being cautious? Oh well, whatever. It feels like we’re on the road back to normal.

  19. I went to Costco here in Michigan Saturday after the mask mandate was relaxed. Only two other people were unmasked out of several hundred. When we saw each other we acknowledged that we were the few. Same experience at Lowe’s, Target and Kroger. I expect more and more to “doff the cloth” as time rolls on.

I will never put down a person for wearing a mask. But I will aggressively defend my not wearing one (outside a medical setting for the time being). My body, my choice.

The CDC knows of a bunch of studies and exposes that are shortly coming down the pike and wants to be ahead of the curve. Also the Zhou Baiden mal-administration urgently needs the economy to open up. The April economic numbers were just awful.

  20. Boss…that knitted penis thing is just wrong on so many levels.
We’re so FUBAR as a society…it ain’t even funny anymore.

  21. RVD asks “What the hell are we going to do about it?!”

They will not be reasoned with. Compromise is out. If you want the benefits of Liberty and Peace, prepare to wage war.

    The dead don’t need compromise.

  22. The family, naturally, say it was unjustified.

    1. The family succored him. It’s a reasonable wager the intramural culture of that family isn’t the best.

    2. It’s the view of white liberals and black chauvinists that blacks are an aristocratic stratum and properly immune from arrest by the mere deplorables who staff police departments.

  23. Meanwhile, in the Glorious People’s Bear Republic of California, officials are busy planning how their subjects can be required to “prove” that they are vaccinated in order to enjoy the “privileges” of not wearing a mask and interacting at customary interpersonal distances. As an Oakland bar owner (quoted in today’s Mercury News) said, “I don’t think people will feel safe with the honor system.”

High trust society, it was nice knowing you.

  24. Kipling referred to trust from time to time. There were “the things no fellow could do”. And so you didn’t.
And in “A Counting Out Song” are the lines

    “But grass or glacier,
    Cold or hot,
    The men went out
    Who would rather not”

    And
“Never yet has a boy been found
To shirk the turn when his turn came ’round”.

It’s harsh. The men who went out when they would rather not
“fought with the tiger, the pig and the ape, To hammer the world into decent shape”

A high trust society has high costs for those bearing the trust. A low trust society has high costs for everybody.

  25. J. J. & I am Spartacus.

Went to both Menards and Meijer today. No masks if vaccinated and honor system, I am so no mask – finally. About 90% were masked but no one was avoiding me or yelling, so for me it was just a normal shopping trip.

  26. om, Ben Crump has already been in Elizabeth City, and also the Rev. William Barber. But the video is pretty damning, so we’ll see if Crump moves on quickly.

  27. Took a group to the Denver Botanical Gardens today.
Masks were recommended but not required, outside of the buildings.
Beautiful sunny day, temps in the low 70s.
People were still wearing masks outside, with some on their kids.
    Most were not.
As is usual with the Covid Theater, we had to wear our Virtue Girdles at the outdoor restaurant while waiting in line to order, removed them to eat while sitting in much closer proximity than when in the socialistically-distanced queue, put them back on to walk 5 feet to the edge of the eating pavilion, and removed them promptly.
I’m beginning to understand why the American Revolutionaries forced the recalcitrant Tories to leave after winning the war. They decamped to Canada as well as back to Britain, so there may be a lesson in that somewhere.
