  1. I think the dam may have broken. Reffed a U12G soccer game this morning. There have been no changes regarding masks, social distancing etc from the the state, or Connecticut Soccer. Rules are that all spectators, coaches and players on the bench must have masks and sit apart. Last weekend all rules being followed. This morning not a single parent, coach, or player had a mask. Parents were all sitting without that damn “social distancing” along the sideline. It was so wonderful. People are done, the corporations and governments better catch up.

I wonder if the CDC knew they let the genie out of the bottle; to mix my metaphors a bit?

  2. “Protecting the young daughter from maskless people, no doubt.”

Very appropriate remark in terms of my family. One of nephew”s wife just went on a rant about how she was feeling things were getting better then the CDC pulls their “stunt”. She has 2 kids; 4 and 2. Every since this pandemic started she has behaved irrationally. The kids have not had any outside contact in 14 months. It was only in the last month she let the grandparents see the kids but only within 6 feet even though they were all vaccinated. She now is very upset about not being able to take the kids out as people will no longer be wearing masks. Very sad. Fortunately, one of her friends ripped her a new one pointing out the chance of kids that age being seriously ill was extremely low, and also told her she should be more concerned about her kid’s mental health from their enforced isolation than the virus.

  3. I’ve been on the road all day and have seen everything from nobody wearing a mask to only employees to everyone. The only employees option seems the most popular. This is through red, blue and purple states.

Last I checked, the death rate for those who are infected with Winnie-the-Flu is 2.2% -down from 2.6% a month or so ago. For those who are not obese, not old, and in good health, the death rate would be even lower.

Has anyone tried to inform your nephew’s wife of those statistics? (Update: I see that someone made the effort to inform her.)

My brother and his wife recently visited their kids and families in California. Judging from the pictures, masks in public are standard. Not so in Texas in public, though via a local ordinance, masks are required to enter a store.

  5. physicsguy @12:46pm,

That was wonderful to read! Thank you for sharing that.

I still see a few stores in SE Texas with signs saying mask required. Almost all are now ignoring the signs and are allowed to enter.
