As a thought experiment, picture an alternate non-COVID history — 39 Comments

  1. How to get out from under the Left’s boot on our necks?
It is not going to happen.
They have two years in which to implement radical socialism and continue Barack’s “fundamental transformation”. What will stop them? To not lock in their fraudulent victory is unrealistic. Soros is happy!
As I’ve said before, Trump will be persecuted. New noises are coming out of the NYC district attorney’s office, and in NY any 12 Democratic jurors will convict.

  2. As elated as I was with Trump’s 2016 victory, I knew it was but a temporary reprieve. I agree with your sentiments exactly, Neo.

  3. I’ve always thought that Covid was the guillotine to the country. Not only did it destroy the economy it gave the Left the perfect opening; and they have walked right through to complete domination. Without the virus, the economy would have been booming, and despite the Left/Dems machinations, I don’t think they would have been at all successful with most people having seen their savings and income grow and unemployment at historic low. I’m agnostic, but WTH was God thinking letting this bug loose on the USA??

  4. This mirrors my thoughts for some time as well. If you believe that America is at or near a crisis point, and I do, then the only way to avoid the crisis would be to never elect another Democrat President along with a Democrat Congress. Clearly, that’s impossible.

The other option is to accept the crisis, face it, and defeat it. The good news for us, I think is that the liberals feel they are closer than (I think) they are. And because of that, the mask has slipped, and is slipping further.

My question, which is probably unanswerable just now, is let’s suppose we do expose them and even defeat them…what happens next? We might usher in a new age of American triumph, another “morning in America” as it were. But they won’t go quietly. Occupy Wall Street and BLM/Antifa riots have shown that. We can hopefully reach a point where such “protests” gain far less sympathy from the average American, but I suspect that will just make the “protestors” that much more hysterical and unreasonable. So, what do we do next?

I don’t know the answer. I suspect that no one does.

I think I will steal all this for a blog post. I am enjoying having resurrected my blog.

  5. Wuhan virus is only one thing that helped Trump from winning.

A poll showed if the media would have not blocked Hunter/Joe Biden scandal 17% would have not have voted for Biden. Now polls are polls these days but if it was only 5% that would have put Trump over the top even with Wuhan virus.

What about the Durham report? If it would have come out before the election would that have changed the outcome?

If MSM would have just been FAIR in reporting for Trump … would that have changed the outcome?

So many things could have changed the outcome!

  6. jack:

Agreed. But I think COVID was absolutely central. It also showed the left how docile Americans have become and how easily controlled through fear.

  7. Here’s where I am:

    1. Shock & Denial
    2. Pain & Guilt
    3. Anger & Bargaining
    4. Depression, Remembering, Loneliness
    5. The Upward Turn
    6. Reconstruction & Working Through
    7. Acceptance

Joe Biden is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.

  8. If COVID had never happened and everything else had remained the same, I believe that Trump would have been re-elected?!!? Trump WAS reelected. There is not a doubt in my mind that he received 80 mil-plus. The election was stolen. if you are not convinced by the evidence, consider the swift silencing of voices who contest the election. And it’s getting worse by the day.

  9. The Great Covid Fear of 2020/1 is analogous to applying an impulse function or a pseudorandom binary sequence to a black box system — in this case the Black Box is Late Stage Social Media Era Western Civilization — all kinds of instabilities and failure modes are now apparent to a sufficiently cynical and sophisticated state or non-state operator.

The next one will be epic.

  10. Had the President not given that interview to Bob Woodward, I think he would have been elected.
This is the part Neo was reflecting on in another post– that the strength of Trump’s character that made him seemingly immune to the vitriol and hate the last four years, was also his Achilles heel– he thought he could weather anything.
The left effectively used what he said to Woodward against him, and it put conservatives on the defensive.

  11. It also showed the left how docile Americans have become and how easily controlled through fear.

25,000 troops, all bridges/roads closed with check points all of the city of DC and who knows what else is going on. It sure looks like some in charge of this mess may be a little afraid themselves.

  12. Not sure I’d give Woodward that much credit… but you would think that by the year 2020 anyone with half a brain would steer clear of that backstabbing @#$^bag.

  13. Covid didn’t matter. On 10/24/2 Biden said “We’re in a situation where we have put together, and you guys did it for our administration…President Obama’s administration before this. We have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.” It’s real and can’t be wished away. How do we know? It’s because Biden isn’t known for his discretion, c.f., his statement to the Council on Foreign Relations about stopping the corruption investigation in the Ukraine.

They had to plan and prepare months in advance. Just think about all the “main-in” ballots that were shipped by truck around the country to the places where fraud took place, the big city Democrat slums. That wasn’t spur of the moment. They knew exactly what they were doing and through long practice, exactly how to accomplish their goal.

  14. Paul in Boston:

I point out two things in my post that you appear to either be ignoring or with which you disagree:

Fraud would have been very hard to perpetrate without COVID because: (a) the margin of victory for Trump probably would have been too large to overcome; and (b) the voting rules would not have been changed to facilitate fraud, because it was COVID that was used to justify the changes.

It was clear many many months in advance that COVID was going to be used to change the voting laws. That push started in the spring.

  15. Paul:
It worked for them, and they will not let go.
Not without a 2nd civil war. And I suspect the colonels on up will order their troops to stand down…just as in Venezuela, where the military has been so dreadfully quiet.
Pinochet was a great man, saved Chilean democracy, but was villified by the socialist Western European countries. They bleat he caused the death of ~2000 radicals but they will not hesitate to kill 200,000 of their opponents themselves.
Of course, Chile has found another snakehole to enter recently.

  16. Now is the time for all good people to sit back and watch the Dem’s release all sorts of their wonderful ideas which might create ‘buyer’s remorse’ within the next two years, perhaps wishful thinking on my part but I think if the price of energy doubles wishing in the next year, gasoline, oil, electricity then some folks might realize they have lost those extra dollars in their budgets. The economy makes a difference when it falls, a lot more than when it improves.

As for things to do on Wednesday, turning off all broadcast media and reading books, visiting friends or baking cookies will be better use of our time. This is a huge nation and there are a lot of us who will not disappear and we are not Germany in the 1930’s. Perhaps living in Texas in an economically strong Republican county that has double in size over the last decade I am seeing things from a different perspective than people who have lived in Democratic controlled states for the last half century. Things are going to happen and they will be screwy but keeping a level head and moving forward will pay off for us in the long run. Bad policy decisions will end up with bad results so sit back, pour yourself a glass of wine and watch the sh*t show, just not in real time.

  17. My personal take is that Trump put himself forward as the Fearless Leader of the national Covid response, appearing day after day on TV with those terrible people heading up our national health institutes, whose advice he was more or less bound to follow. He did this rather than hand things over to Pence and the Task Force and keep himself at a distance. He was totally identified with the Covid crisis because he chose to be. Mistake.

  18. OldTexan — But who will know that Democrat policies fail? And are toxic to people’s lives? Because the Marxist Media will not tell them?

  19. James S:

If he hadn’t done so they would have said everything was his fault because he didn’t pay enough attention and just delegated everything. There was no way he could have evaded their ire once the crisis hit.

  20. TIMED OUT by seconds!
Even as I post the above, John Solomon makes the opposite case against me, on Seb Gorka’s America First radio program.

Gorka challenges him and Solomon says that there are enough non traditional outlets that people cannot be successfully kept from the Truth.

An example, he says, is BidenGate. A poll after the election found that 77% of the people knew about the China-Hunter Biden-and other governments paying him and the family. And a majority think Joe Biden should not have allowed him to do it.

Ok. Let’s concede Solomon his point. Marginally, we can ask, is that enough?

The fact that the potted plant soon displaces, not just competent, but very superior leadership tells is that it is not.

  21. TJ

The situation is not static. We, the enemy, have a vote in the battle.

Creepy Jo and the Ho are not ubermenchen and the lords of Si Valley are not all knowing and all powerful; Dorsey and Zuk lost 51+ billion $ last week for a political statement. What can’t continue won’t.

  22. Neo, you are more knowledgeable than I am about the change in voting laws so I’ll concede the point. But, I’m not convinced that it couldn’t have been pulled off without them.

Some types of fraud that didn’t need the extra ballots. After being alerted to them by the discussions on the internet, I’ve observed some of them in the voting data I downloaded.

Running the the same stack of ballots through a counting machine multiple times. Actually seen on video

Flipping ballots from Trump to Biden in the tally. An entire Trump county where all 5K votes went to Biden. Ditto, military votes recorded for Biden.

Large vote dumps at the end of the night for Biden that suddenly gave him the win. Georgia and Wisconsin.

Simply taking votes away from Trump and giving them to Biden. Pennsylvania after midnight.

Destroying ballots a few days after the election to prevent an audit.

These people are pros and have lots of experience of doing this over the years.

  23. I think the dems would have just flipped and manufactured enough votes to ‘win’ even if the virus had never appeared. I also think that the dems were confident that the GOP’s would capitulate.

Had Trump gotten 100 million votes and Xiden only 60 million, they’d have just flipped the count. And given that 28 states use the Dominion software, including all of the ‘key’ states that handed Xiden his ‘miraculous’ victory, the election was never actually in doubt. All of the other fraudulent machinations was just covering all the bases.

  24. Cicero,

You ask, “How to get out from under the Left’s boot on our necks?”

Then answer your own question; “Not without a 2nd civil war.”

    physicsguy,

You wonder; “WTH was God thinking letting this bug loose on the USA??”

What purpose to granting humans free will, if it’s conditional?

    Brian E,

“Had the President not given that interview to Bob Woodward, I think he would have been elected.”

He might have gotten more votes, perhaps a lot more. So what? The game was rigged. No matter how many votes Trump actually got, Xiden was going to get ‘more’…

    jack,

“25,000 troops, all bridges/roads closed with check points all of the city of DC and who knows what else is going on. It sure looks like some in charge of this mess may be a little afraid themselves.”

Yes but the paranoia goes even deeper. Several in the dem party are requesting that those 25k troops be vetted. The dems want to know who among the troops voted for Trump.

    TJ,

“who will know that Democrat policies fail? And are toxic to people’s lives? Because the Marxist Media will not tell them?”

You know that any and all policy failures will be blamed on Trump and the GOP. He’s EVIL so the perfect scapegoat. And blaming the GOP is easily done, the dems demand much more than is needed. The GOP signs on to a lesser amount and when the policy fails, the dems scream that it wasn’t funded properly, so the GOP sabotaged it.

    om,

“We, the enemy, have a vote in the battle.”

The point of massive electoral fraud is to deny the enemy (that’s us) any meaningful, future input into governance.

  25. Geoffrey Britain:

The point is that the “enemy” always has a say in the battle, but that does not imply who wins. A battle is not the same as a capitulation without contention or strife.

Ohterwise what is the point of resistance?

  26. Zaphod,

Thank you for that link to the AntiDem post. Very thought provoking and persuasive. Perhaps because I’m already leaning in that direction myself.

  27. Neo’s back-and-forth with Paul and James echoes what she has said earlier about the Capitol situation:

No matter what Trump does, THAT is wrong (to the left) and he should have done the other thing; in which case, that too would have been called wrong.
Had there been no Covid, some other crisis would have been pounced on. Like the death of George Floyd, it was a Crisis of Opportunity; but there would have been some other “casus belli” latched onto for their purposes, whether real or invented.
If none of Trump’s supporters had been anywhere near the Capitol, much less inside, the Democrat false-flag operatives would have carried on, just without as much innocent cover. OR they would have gone to plans B, C, D etc (don’t forget the bombs at both party headquarters and elsewhere).

And, yes, if there is no violence by Trump supporters on Wednesday, the Democrats will: spin what anyone on the right-fringe (or anywhere else) does as being their (our) fault; or they will generate it themselves deliberately as a false flag operation; or they will make something up and the media will gladly run with it (hate crime hoaxes are their specialty).

I refuse to un-see the last 16 years; and I remember the years before that as well.

  28. Biden didn’t seem to get the Cuomo Memo that it’s okay to open up the economy now that Trump won’t get any credit for it.
    Doc Zero:
    https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1350062754338660352.html
“The coming year will see Biden Democrats walking slowly through a vast field of small businesses exhausted by the battle with the coronavirus, shooting any who can still move. Big Tech will hold a pillow over the faces of those who cry out too loudly.”

These posts describe some of the metaphorical* bullets:
    https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/minimum-wage-biden-andy-puzder
“Biden proposal to boost hourly minimum wage to $15 would destroy jobs, hurt unemployed.
Any minimum wage increase should be at the state or local level — and the more local the better.”

    https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/biden-rescue-plan-stephen-moore
“Biden’s proposals will likely speed America further along the track to bankruptcy, higher interest rates, higher inflation and much higher taxes”

    Economics 101 lessons follow.

*because we have to spell that out for Democrats.

  29. AesopFan: “Biden didn’t seem to get the Cuomo Memo that it’s okay to open up the economy now that Trump won’t get any credit for it.”

It is a given that Dems wanted to lock down in order to tank the economy thereby preventing Trump’s re-election. But there was another motive: they really really like it when the government tells people what to do, in fact that is their foundational political belief. So now with Trump out of the way they may be conflicted about easing the lockdown.

  30. Trump didn’t handle the Covid response badly. The line kept moving. No matter what he did, it would’ve been deemed that he handled the covid response badly. He was in a no win situation.

The never trumpers screwed us in that their hatred for Trump trumped (haha!) any and everything. Could they have been more helpful in fighting of the Dems? Yes, bit they hated Trump more than the destruction of it country by the left wing.

  31. Presume gas is $4 per gallon by June and you tell a Biden fan, “You voted for it.”
    Likely response will be…?

  32. Geoffrey Britain at Jan 18, 8:10 p.m. is correct:
The Democrats would have flipped as many votes as they had to.
They had all the time they needed and all the resources.
And they had all the right people in all the right places.
…as neo has so cogently explained in prior posts.

Zaphod at Jan. 18, 5:47 p.m. is correct:
It is a horror show. Nothing less.

    But back to COVID….
Regarding the COVID destruction gambit perpetrated by the Democratic Party (and I’ll throw in mass murder while we’re at it), here’s a tid-bit—though not exactly an eye-opener for anyone who’s been following:

And while we’re at it, on the related topic of Democratic Party perfidy (but then that’s entirely redundant)—apologies in advance if these topics/links have already been broached:

  33. Without Trump, and now without Reps even in control of the Senate – all the gov’t and the societal problems will be blamed …
    on Trump.
    And Republicans.
    And QAnon & white supremacists.

At least by the media. But there is some chance that more folks will understand that it’s the Dems.

The key problem remains the elites, and the elite education discrimination / demonization of Reps. (HT) Arnold notes link to fine Tablet essay on Power Elites.
    https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/arts-letters/articles/angelo-codevilla

The el-Reps have long had more in cultural common with the el-Dems, educated by Rep-hating Dem Professors in prestigious colleges.

We, the USA, need “diversity” to mean, inclusively, diverse politics. And those who advertise that they are diverse, but do not have diverse politics, should be sued.
    And lose.

It ain’t coming soon, but it can’t come soon enough to avoid big problems.
    Great Leonard Cohen song!

  34. Worth dropping in on this thread, in re the “control is the agenda” facet of Covid lockdowns. RTWT
Note to new readers: Greenwald is most definitely neither a conservative nor a Republican.
    Conclusion to his observations:
    https://greenwald.substack.com/p/the-new-domestic-war-on-terror-is

That a new War on Terror is coming is not a question of speculation and it is not in doubt. Those who now wield power are saying it explicitly. The only thing that is in doubt is how much opposition they will encounter from those who value basic civic rights more than the fears of one another being deliberately cultivated within us.
