Cancel culture comes for MDs who support the use of hydroxychloroquine — 26 Comments

  1. Dr Risch was on the Dennis Prager show today and he said his dean had been supportive. Whether that lasts who knows.

  2. Poor guy paid the price for having an open mind.

They’re not exactly letting a Hundred Flowers Bloom, are they?

Late stage Stalin might have had a point about Doctors.

Nope… not dog whistling (well today, anyway hehe)… but there is something distinctly off about much of the medical profession in the current year.

Robespierre was a lawyer (A suppurating pox be upon them!) but who else gets the sneaking suspicion that when history rhymes, it’s going to be a doctor.. or Nurse Ratchet?

  3. I would anticipate, and hope, that the litigation courts will be backlogged for years to come over the trampling of basic rights. The other point that I would love to see litigated extensively is the tyrannical hate speech laws. I should think that avenue would be a no brainer given the copious evidence that they are applied with extreme prejudice.

Of course, anyone who wants to litigate has to first find a competent Attorney to advance the case. But, I should think that the Covington, Oh boy’s success would be a strong incentive. Some Attorney is making a bundle there.

  4. The Democratic Party’s determined Lysenkoism has been helping to kill Americans for months now.

But as long as they can blame those deaths on Trump—just as they blame the rioting, chaos and destruction in America’s cities on Trump—then they’re absolutely convinced it’s terrific politics!

(What they might call “a dead cert”.)

…which will propel them, so they tell themselves, led by their nearly comatose candidate, to the White House.

And so their campaign, waged on death and destruction, threats and intimidation—and a multitude of, necessarily, lies and disinformation—continues apace.

….You know something? They’re right actually: there’s absolutely NOTHING here to debate.

  5. Again, administrators in higher education are, by and large, the enforcers of cancel culture. Why are so many bad people in these gatekeeper positions? (Someone also threatened her webhoster).

  6. Is she Dr. Gold, Dr. Simon or Dr. Simone??
I trust she has hired a gotcha lawyer to sue her employer.

The cancelculture is surely robust. One speck of non-PC dust on you, and you are disposed of immediately.
Whence cometh all the cancelculture recuits who are in positions of authority, and presumably are not children?

The University of Rochester is imitating Princeton U, I’ve just learned.
You will recall that Princeton has eliminated the name of Woodrow Wilson from its campus, its former president and also president of the USA, for being racist. It was OK that he campaigned against the US entering WWI, got re-elected and almost immediately sent 50,000 Americans to their deaths in a European war. But Racism!

Rochester’s School of Medicine is deleting the name of Dr. George Whipple, who was the School’s founder, recruiter of its faculty, and first Dean when it admitted its first class in 1925. His crime, as determined almost a century later: same as Woodrow’s, evidenced by his failure to admit blacks. I received a smarmy letter from the current dean, alleging Whipple’s ‘systemic racism’. Whipple was a Nobel Prize winner for his work in elucidating and treating anemias, saving the lives and reducing the suffering of untold millions. But Racism!

    Sheesh.

  7. Hydroxychloroquine plus zinc, for a week, won’t do any harm, and may prevent hospitalizations. Why not prescribe it, especially since we’ve got a large stockpile of it, so regular prescription users won’t run short?

  8. Rochester’s School of Medicine is deleting the name of Dr. George Whipple, who was the School’s founder,

Well, the University is no longer run by people who admire accomplishment. We live in an age of hollow men.

  9. I’m no fan of cancel culture but a hospital has a right to fire someone if they are spreading misleading information than can come back to be blamed on the hospital. She claims we don’t need to wear masks and that HCQ is a cure. There is no evidence that HCQ is by itself a cure. It has seemed to work in emergency situations but even then not by itself.

This page link below does a good job of providing information on 17 HCQ studies around the world. 4 test were positive but with caveats and 13 were negative.

    https://www.goodrx.com/blog/coronavirus-medicine-chloroquine-hydroxychloroquine-as-covid19-treatment/

So the issue is that this doctor was spreading information that could actually be harmful because people would think if they just started popping HCQ they would be invincible. No study shows that. Of course, only wearing a mask won’t stop the spread either but social distancing and masks and staying out of crowded places helps prevent the SPREAD. But no one is saying that alone will stop CV19. They say that it’s the best we have at this point short of a vaccine.
    We need a vaccine.

  10. The last thing the dem leadership and the MSM want is for an inexpensive and effective treatment for COVID 19 to appear before the election. They’ll do their best to destroy/neutralize anyone who threatens that agenda. Demonstrated by their complete willingness to ‘sacrifice’ i.e. kill as many Americans as needed to keep the fear, uncertainty and economic destruction rampant.

They have embraced evil as the neccessary means to the glorious end they seek.

  11. Demonstrated by their complete willingness to ‘sacrifice’ i.e. kill as many Americans as needed

Planned Parenthood, Planned Parent, Planned Patient… Sure, why not.

  12. Art Deco…”Again, administrators in higher education are, by and large, the enforcers of cancel culture. Why are so many bad people in these gatekeeper positions?”

Largely, I think, because these positions don’t have measurable results…so promotions in these career paths tend to be highly dependent on conformity with the Accepted Way of Doing Things.

  13. Former blogger Dr. Sanity (a licensed MD) has indicated that she has repeatedly prescribed HCQ for Lupus patients for decades, and that its side effects are well-known and easily dealt with.

There is zero justification for this literal censorship of not just opposing opinions, but BLATANTLY MEDICALLY QUALIFIED opinions.

We really need to stomp on the FDA for this crap.

  14. The video Neo has linked looks like their press conference. Here’s the first session of their two day White Coat Summit. It’s actually very informative.

Kate, it can’t be prescribed by doctors for use with covid. When the FDA reversed its Emergency Usage Authorization, state medical boards have locked down the drug.
What’s happened to Dr. Simone Gold and the group of doctors she assembled, America’s Frontline Doctors, for the White Coat Summit, a two day seminar at the end of July is shocking.

It’s available over the counter in parts of the world. It was an over the counter drug in France until January 15, 2020. It’s being used around the world, even though the WHO is putting pressure on governments to ban it’s use. India has had good results, though I think at this point its only being used as a prophylaxis
for health care workers and first responders.

Here’s a white paper from the White Coat Summit by Dr. Gold that highlights some of the information at the conference.

The doctors spent some time talking about the fallout they’ve received for being vocal advocates for HCQ’s use.

  15. “She claims we don’t need to wear masks and that HCQ is a cure”.- Montage

Who is the she you’re referring to?

  16. Montage, the story you linked to is disinformation. Read the white paper I linked to read about the disinformation campaign going on.

Here is a compilation of studies of HCQ, rated from positive, inconclusive and negative.
    https://c19study.com/

  17. HCQ together with Ivermectin is credited with turning around the dire Covid19 situation this past month in a Brazil. An American journalist on scene reports CFR falling from 14% to 4%.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGAlQbWCi6Y

Peru (the second) and Bangladesh (the first), likewise. What’s important with both is low cost and wide availability.

He calls this out this fake problem a result of greed, and chides gullible, fearful Americans misled by media instead of independent evidence.

  18. This is only a marginally political issue. It is mostly an elite money making issue. There are at least 11 members of NIH who own significant stock in pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Fauci is one. If a well tested, out of patent drug proves significantly effective in reducing the danger of Covid, what happens to the various pharma alternatives now in testing with federal funds? No profit there, no stock options increase. Maybe even no need for a vaccine. This is obviously intolerable to TPTB and might even cut their income and control. Please bear in mind that these folks also own media outlets.

  19. Pingback:We’re getting an awful lot of very bad advice

  20. Fiona…”This is only a marginally political issue. It is mostly an elite money making issue. There are at least 11 members of NIH who own significant stock in pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Fauci is one.”

Something like this should really be supported with a link, please post one. Also, what is a Member of NIH…any employee, any executive, or what?

  21. Montage fears blame, and in so doing ignores the possibility of both an employment contract and the First Amendment. He wrote, “a hospital has a right to fire someone if they are spreading misleading information than can come back to be blamed on the hospital.”

The doc spoke as a free person, not as a spokesperson for any hospital.
You want slavery, not freedom, Montage.
