“Does your website have a goal?” — 15 Comments

  1. I was taught to never think in terms of a “goal” but only in terms of “objectives”. Objectives are stepping stones. Aiming for the “grand objective” is daunting. You will lose many people before getting started. Objectives can lead to more objectives as truths are revealed.

  2. My little blog, which I have kept up for 13 years, I use it to store interesting bits of info. I even post on it sometimes.

  3. The goal of my website is to be the launch pad for me getting named “Emperor of the Universe.” Sadly, so far I’ve fallen far short of that aim.

  4. Does the blog need a goat, though? I don’t see a lawn that needs mowing. Maybe we need some cheese? There’s an idea, Neo.. you could get a goat so you can make some Neo-chevre! Have a little shopping link on the sidebar to peddle your chevre logs and maybe some crackers and fig spread…. yum.

  5. Maybe if the blog is about making Feta cheese? then it may need a sheep too not only a goat

  6. Well goats are ruminants after all, not that we do that sort of thing, excessively …..

  7. Ha! And I thought I was the only one who noticed the italicized “goal” colliding with the question mark.

  8. I used to participate heavily in a couple of blogs that that were anti-Chavista in Venezuela. The goal was to educate the English speaking world to the truth that Venezuela was becoming a brutal authoritarian dictatorship. It took a long time, but we succeeded. Of course, by then, the dictatorship was entrenched.

To what effect? Apparently none. The world has their own problems.

All you can really hope for in a blog is to share with like minded folks and refine your own ideas. We are not going to change history here.

No, but maybe some people reading it will learn more than they knew before.

  10. Speaking of website goals, a news website was suddenly directed to my attention by my local liberal Facebook friends. The goal of this website appears to be about targeting and tarring outspoken conservatives in my town and calling for shunning, firings and boycotts.

At first glance it appeared to be a legitimate national news outlet, but at second glance, it is anonymous.

Is this type of campaign of personal destruction common, or just in areas with a lot of residents who are wealthy woke liberal political consultants?

I’d share the website, but I’m paranoid;-) The use of a fake website reminds me of the internet seeding and political echo chamber that passed the Iran deal.

  11. goats eat everything; so, maybe a goat would come along and eat that apple from in front of you face? Then would we all get to see the real Neo! yea!

  12. My previously suggested goal of this blog would be to create a short book of non-edited blog posts and sell them, yearly, as a set of Trump Diaries, for each year since 2016. These posts would be in chron order, each starting on Jan. 1.
    (possibly also a pre-Trump 2015 Diary).

Of course doing it now, before the election, would generate more revenue.

Books last, and often become references.
So many books have so much less thinking than Neo’s blog posts…
