A plea to keep Kamala Harris’s sex life off-limits
That plea certainly isn’t being made by me. It’s being made by Monica Hesse, who is something called a “style reporter” at the WaPo.
The reason?:
Our collective consciousness has been raised and so we’ll begin by … excavating one of the candidate’s decades-old love life?
Sigh.
The candidate in question is Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), whose past relationship with former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown was confirmed for the national media when Brown published an op-ed: Yes, they’d dated. And, yes, he “may have influenced her career” by appointing her to two commissions…
We talk about men abusing power. We talk about women not even deserving power. The distinction matters, because the conversation isn’t really about sex, it’s about legitimacy. It’s about who we think has earned the right to be successful, and what criteria we’ll invent, and who we’ll apply it to.
“Maybe we should stop accusing women of ‘sleeping their way’ to the top,” Erin Gloria Ryan wrote in the Daily Beast in 2017. “Maybe because men have been the ones sleeping women to the middle and bottom.”
Ryan was talking specifically about women in the entertainment industry whose reputations were stained by Harvey Weinstein’s predation. But the application is more general, and the pattern is often the same: a talented woman dates a powerful man. And from then on, whether the relationship lasted two decades or two months, her success will be traced back to that man. As if her own hard work were less important than his cameo appearance in her life — as if she were actually the cameo in her own story.
Actually, among the reasons we talk about such things is because they tend to reflect on the person’s morality and ruthlessness, as well as the use they make of their own attractiveness and sexuality to achieve power. In Harris’s case, it is also relevant that Brown was 60 at the time and she was 30, and it becomes difficult if not impossible to imagine that his power—and what he could do for her career—was not the biggest part of any attraction she might have felt for him at the time.
And “dated” is a coy euphemism, by the way, one used by Brown himself but then seconded by Hesse.
Oh, and Brown was married at the time—or, as Hesse coyly writes, “technically still-married.”
She also writes this:
Does it help your career, to date someone powerful? I’d assume so. Does it also help to play golf with someone powerful, or smoke cigars with someone powerful, or belong to Skull and Bones? I’d assume that, too. But for decades we’ve accepted those relationships — many of which benefited only men — as standard procedure for how executives and politicians get ahead.
She only assumes it helps a woman’s career to “date” someone powerful? And does Hesse really mean to equate—on the moral, personal, philosophical scale—playing golf with someone in order to get ahead with having sex with them in order to get ahead? I believe so—at least, if it could help the female candidate most people see as one of the strongest in the 2020 Democratic field. I have a hunch that were Harris a conservative who’d slept with a powerful guy to get some political favors, Hesse would be singing another tune.
By my calculations, Hesse is thirty-six years old (I base that on some information in this article). I would guess that her attitude about sex and women is shared by a large number of her age cohorts, who have learned not only to excuse anything a Democratic candidate does but who also have learned that sex is about as deep an exchange as smoking cigars, and that on any moral plane, smoking a cigar is far worse (especially around other people who might get the stinky secondhand smoke) than loveless sex for mutual exploitation.
Now, Kamala Harris may have genuinely been attracted to Brown. Stranger things have happened, and in fact I ascribe to the idea that—as no less a personage than Kissinger has observed—“power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.” Now, that’s an interesting conversation to have. But so is the one about Kamala Harris’s career. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the bedroom—and politics.
Ah, but Hesse is worried:
…[T]he only way a woman is ever going to be elected to the top of anything is if we stop making insinuations about how she got there.
So, we cannot judge women for what they do, sexually or otherwise. Even if they’re running for the highest office in the land. Because—well, because if we did discuss them as we discuss men, no woman would be elected to high office. That contention seems to sell women rather short, doesn’t it? But of course what Hesse means is that women are held back from “the top” by unfair discrimination, and they need to receive special dispensation from criticism as a sort of compensation.
And the sad thing is that this sort of reasoning is probably persuasive for a lot of people desperate to get a Democrat elected to the presidency in 2020.

Hesse’s baloney about “sex and politics” has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with politics, i. e. everything and anything is OK if you’re a Dem but nothing is allowed if you’re a Republican.

Kamala and Hillary have several things in common. Men got them started and they are both nasty harridans. Both are also ungrateful for the help. Willie, in his Chronicle column, said that once he got her to SF DA, she told him she would ticket him if he so much as jaywalked.
You know a woman that got to the top on her own merits ?
Susan Helms. She was nominated to take over the USAF Space Command but McCaskill held her appointment because she did not force an AF officer into a dishonorable discharge because of an unsubstantiated charge of sexual assault.
Brown readily admits she got favors in exchange for her, erm, favors. Just imagine if a conservative – female or male – had boinked their way up the ladder then relied on external characteristics to hook a senatorship and potentially the presidency! You’d have to imagine this because it would never happen. Wouldn’t be allowed. But it repeatedly occurs (Hillary) on the left because the left assumes that women and nonwhites can’t succeed without favors. That’s the underlying presumption. And then, of course, you can’t talk about the favors, the quid pro quo of lefty politics, because then you’d have to confront the underlying presumption and the fact that the candidate is maybe not all that qualified.
I have said this before & my opinion hasn’t changed. We now know Harris is a whore. What’s her going rate today? If she was “for sale” to advance her career back then, what’s she willing to compromise now?
Just like Bill & Monica…it goes to the moral fibre & reliability issues.

It would be bad enough that she had an affair with Brown, a powerful man who could help her career, but there is another small fact. HE WAS MARRIED.
So Trump’s sex life and past experiences should be off limits? Of course not, because, as our host says, these happenings and experiences give the voters insight as to the person’s priorities, character, policies, etc.
And what if Ms. Harris used Mr. Brown to advance her career? Should she be congratulated or vilified? Female hero or misogynist victim? Or are we slut-shaming?
How long before Kamala turns this around and starts calling herself a metoo victim and throwing Willie Brown under the bus and accusing him of being a Harvey Weinstein / bill corsby type abuser. Not only won’t this news about her past sex life hurt her a bit, it will only boost her supports among democrats.
I would have grudging respect if one of these posers just admitted that they sold out in order to get ahead. That sort of honesty would at least get me to listen even if not immediately get me to reconsider my assumption that they’re nothing more than a puppet and someone (literally or figuratively) has their hand up their butts. But this will never happen. This Kamala is a machine politician and the machine does not permit truth or authenticity. Too dangerous. The machine counts on other cogs – style reporters, frinstance – to block that from even becoming a topic.

Um, it was Sen. Harris who, last fall, entered into the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing record a vile and completely unverified allegation of sexual misbehavior by a Supreme Court nominee.
This story about her behavior with Willie Brown is verified by him, and by other witnesses from the time. No, I won’t be ignoring it.
Like Kate said — after Kavanaugh, 40 year old sex is not off limits. She’s a slut-adulteress. And for some it won’t matter, but for some it will.
I’d be surprised if the other Dems kept away from it if Harris is the front runner, but I’m sure Reps, like Rush, won’t keep away from it and it will become known. Even if the snob Dems don’t talk about it. Knowing it’s there will be enough for them to find other reasons to support other candidates.
She won’t get the nomination.

This strikes me as a different strategy to solve a problem that is similar to the one that Obama faced concerning his past. Known terrorist Bill Ayres had created an Annandale funded education non-profit and appointed Obama to chairman of the board. Known mobster Tony Rezko paid Obama hundreds of $K for a microscopic patch of land, or perhaps 10 times what Obama paid for it.
Obama’s explanation was simply that he didn’t know these guys. They were just some guys in his neighborhood.
But if two people sleep together repeatedly, they can’t really say they don’t know each other. Better to bring in the PC police and have them play the feminism card. The Hesse quote begins with an assumption:

As if untalented or semi-talented women don’t “date” powerful men. Don’t forget that the Kamster failed the bar exam on her first try. The whole package matters more than one exam, but not if the key component of that package is being good in bed.
Here’s my other problem with the Kamster. Willie Brown is not just a famous CA politician, he is a notorious CA politician. I don’t know any of the details of Harris’ rise to power, though that might be a worthwhile study if she’s to be the new B.H. Obama. If Willie merely appointed her to positions because he had that direct power, it would be one thing. If he had to bribe or extort other people in a position of power to make way for Harris, that’s quite another.
Tom Grey, I hope you’re right that Dems won’t nominate Harris, but I wouldn’t count on it. She’s photogenic, and she’s promising lots of free stuff.

Notice that Trump’s excoriated remark in the Billy Bush tape, although much cruder, has exactly the same meaning as Kissinger’s famous aphorism.
After living in L. A. for almost 40 years, hearing a woman say, “Oh, no, when I went to Harvey Weinstein’s (or Bill Cosby’s, or Matt Lauer’s, or . . .) hotel room, I thought we were just going to look at his etchings,” makes me want to vomit. Jerry Brown is a humorless scold. The majority of California pols are idiots since I was around Sacramento. Willie outsmarted the GOP (which is a low bar) when they won a majority in the CA Assembly. He got some woman assembly chick to vote for him as Speaker.

I shook hands with him in the mid-1990s while having brunch with a friend in the Inner Sunset of San Francisco. Willie was doing standard retail politics — showing up in a neighborhood restaurant and pressing the flesh. My friend, a San Francisco native, knew Willie Brown and despised him. But he still shook Will Brown’s hand.
That was about the time Willie and Kammie were a thing. I have to say, in a three-piece suit Willie was a good-looking guy. Younger gals and powerful older guys have gone together like milk and cookies for ages. But it wasn’t like Harris was making it with Harvey Weinstein as a career move.
Brown has a sense of humor and he is damn shrewd. Yes, he is an entirely corrupt politician, but he is worth reading. Brown was one of the few Dem movers and shakers who said boo during the Obama years because he didn’t see how Obama was helping the party long-term.
When I met him, Willie was wearing a gold tie collar pin bar something which attaches at the collar and beneath the tie so the knot juts forward.

How is Kamala’s choice different from a starlet choosing to sleep with Harvey Weinstein (or one of the many other couch-casters in Hollywood) to land a potentially Oscar-winning role, fame and fortune?
Oh, but they didn’t want to, so it’s different. Well, how many women working for Brown either lost out on opportunities because they chose not to, or worse, felt compelled to because the precedent/expectation was set by Kamala (and others?) that sex = advancement?
It is cognitive dissonance to claim sex for advancement is now OK after campaigning to destroy all men who operated under this policy.

One can be of several minds on this particular matter, but I’m almost certain that Ms. Hesse is making her heartfelt plea purely on aesthetic grounds.

I have no knowledge of this Monica Hesse individual. But it certainly didn’t hurt Ali Watkins career to sleep with Senate Select Committee for Intelligence staffer James Wolfe, who was convicted last December for lying about his contacts with the press. While she was reporting on that committee, BTW. Oh boy, was he lying about his contacts with the press. Considering he was not an especially good looking 57 when he was convicted and the two began sleeping together in 2013 when she was an undergrad news intern, it’s difficult to see that she had any interest in him beyond “cultivating” (cough, cough) him as a source. He was a serial leaker, and he leaked to her. And she had the audacity to accuse Donald Trump’s lawyers of being the source of the leaks to the press.
Again, I have no inside knowledge of this Hesse person. But considering that Watkins slept her way from undergrad intern to New York Times reporter in about four years I have to wonder, who do you have to sleep with to become a Washington Post “style reporter?” It seems that the possibility of Sen. Kemala Harris’s (D-California Bunny Ranch) sex life becoming public strikes a bit too close to home causing her to protest too much.
Do you want to understand what kind of person Kamala Harris is? Just watch her question people during hearings. These can be seen all over You Tube. Arrogant, snappy, doesn’t let people answer fully, and so on. Power is her most cherished accomplishment- sleeping with someone just to get it? Not a difficult question!

Monica Hesse is a fool if she thinks that as long as she and her colleagues don’t report the truth we won’t see it even though it’s right there in front of us. As a matter of fact, as commenter Jim Treacher (this particular tweet is perennially reposted at Instapundit) puts it, the media views it’s job as deciding what they must not report because it might reflect badly on Democrats.
There is a lot of truth in the Bible. I think even atheists will see the truth in what I’m going to say, as I’m not saying it to evangelize anyone. So here I go, all Biblical on you.

So here we have Monica Hesse putting on the depraved mind like an exhibitionist. Screwing someone to advance her career? And, BTW, Willie Brown has admitted he did advance Kemala Harris’ career. He hasn’t admitted that he advanced her career because she was his ****rag, but c’mon. Hesse would have us believe that sexually pleasuring someone is the same thing as playing golf or smoking cigars with someone. Perhaps to her it is; dunno. But her entire opinion peace demonstrates that Paul knew what he was talking about when he said, “Professing to be wise, they became fools.”
Now, I go all Old Testament on you (TANAKH if you’re Jewish). Israel proper had already split in two. There was a Kingdom of Judah and a Kingdom of Israel. We learn in 1 Kings 16 that Ahab became king of Israel. The First Book of Kings is a long list of kings who rebelled against Yahweh, and in 1 Kings 16 we learn Ahab is the worst of the worst:
“31 He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him. 32 He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria. 33 Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to arouse the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than did all the kings of Israel before him.”

These were all prophets of Baal, and the King of Judah knew it.
“7 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?”
8 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”
“The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.”
Ahab hated the prophet of Yahweh because that prophet kept telling him things he didn’t want to hear. In other words the truth, which is why Ahab hates him. Like I said, most people don’t want to hear the truth. But they send for him.
“13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.”
14 But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.””
I was a Naval Intelligence officer for twenty years. This reminds me of a joke. One day an Admiral is pondering the question, how much is 2 plus 2? So he sends for his operations officer, an aviator, and asks, “How much is two plus two?: The guy shrugs and says, “I dunno. Can I go to the gymn now and get swoll?” The Admiral says, “Get out of here and send me the communications officer.”
The COMMO enters and the Admiral asks, “How much is 2 plus 2?” The COMMO goes to the white board and starts drawing out a huge mathematical equation intended to show not only how much 2 plus 2 equals but how you arrive at it. The Admiral doesn’t need to hear that so he kicks the guy out and tells him to send in the intel officer. The intel officer enters. “Spy, how much is 2 plus 2” the Admiral asks. The intel officer puts his finger to his lips, signaling the Admiral to be quiet. He goes to the door to make sure no one is listening. He closes all the drapes. Then he whispers into the Admirals ear, “How much do you want it to be?”
Micaiah, who apparently would have been a fun guy to hang out with as he was definitely a smart ***, was not the intel officer Ahab was looking for. Although it looked like it at the kick off.
“15 When he arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or not?”
“Attack and be victorious,” he answered, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”
16 The king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”
17 Then Micaiah answered, “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the Lord said, ‘These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.’”
18 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?”
19 Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with all the multitudes of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left. 20 And the Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?’
“One suggested this, and another that. 21 Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’
22 “‘By what means?’ the Lord asked.
“‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.
“‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the Lord. ‘Go and do it.’
23 “So now the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The Lord has decreed disaster for you.””
The God of the Bible can not lie or deceive you. He is sovereign, and He will allow other influences to deceive you. But you have free will. Ultimately you can only be deceived if you want to be deceived. Monica Hesse will only be successful in her public campaign to suppress the truth about Kemala Harris with people who are already inclined to suppress the truth about Kemal Harris. They’d rather believe the lies about “Democratic” socialism.

I always threw up a little in my mouth whenever I heard Fleetwood Mac after it was played ad nauseum during the one and only (YES!) Clinton administration. I was listening to Gov. Ralph Northam trying to normalize infanticide. He could tell us exactly what would happen if a baby born to a woman who had intended to abort it slipped through. The baby would be kept comfortable, resuscitated eve if that’s what the parents wanted (how kind) and then they’d have a discussion.

But so much for live and let live when it comes to a Christian baker who will serve gays and cater non-religious functions for them. “Bake that SSM wedding cake, Christian” as they point their gun at them. These people live to impose their personal morality on others. As quiet conservative, and before him the Apostle Paul, and before the apostle numerous prophets observed, the truth can be found right out in the open for anyone who has eyes to see and ears to hear. Or, if you’re Helen Keller, fingers to read Braille.
We are told by the people who have traded truth for a lie that there is no such thing as gender. The fact that biological sex and gender expression, sexual preference, and gender identity is perfectly aligned for 98 point something percent of the human population does not make that condition normal. No, normal is to be defined by the 2 percent or less. The best of those who practice makr. Makr is the Arabic word for deception for an evil purpose. You wouldn’t use it describe someone who is planning a surprise birthday party for a friend or for someone who lies to the Gestapo about hiding Jews in the attic. Makr always means deception for an evil purpose, and in the Quran Allah is the best at it. If you doubt me I can cite verses that proclaim Allah as khayru al-makireena and how no one is safe from Allah’s makr.
Witness the violent reaction to Christian bakers. Where is that visceral response when the Shia government of Iran hangs gays or more properly those accused of homosexual conduct from cranes, and the Sunni gulf states impose the death penalty via beheading on homosexuals and suspected gays (like those in the Islamic state) are thrown off tall buildings in Gaza? But word gets out that that although I believe gays have the right to live their lives without any interference from me I am not going to bake a cake for them for them when they decide to imitate marriage. I at least would think that at some point feminists would object to an ideology that devalues women because they’re so stupid that their testimony in court is worth half that of a man and throws women in prison for zina (sexual impurity) if the can’t produce four male witnesses to the actual act of copulation in prison. “I believe the victim” my ***. And while western feminists are fighting for a woman’s “right” to wear a hijab not a squeak about women in the Islamic world who so want to throw off that symbol of the fact they are the property of some man that they (in the case of Iranian protesters) are willing to risk 15 plus years in prison for appearing in public without it.
In Iran a woman with uncovered hair is considered a prostitute. Same in Sunni Islam. In Pakistan as in all Sharia compliant countries a non-Muslim’s word is worth nothing. To be accused it to be convicted, which is why approximately 200 Christians now stand accused of violating Pakistan’s blasphemy law. If a Muslim has a monetary or property dispute with a Christian that’s an easy way to solve it. In Asia Bibi’s case she merely drank well water out of the same cup as Muslim women as they were picking fruit in an orchard.
I doubt any of you heard or read about it given Monica Hesse et al and their dedication against letting the truth slip out.
Although she had been originally convicted of blasphemy her conviction was overturned by the Pakistani supreme court due to international pressure and lack of evidence. But mostly due to international pressure. But the lynch mob known as the Muslim street wants to kill her now more than ever because she was retried and acquitted again. She has to live under government protection and if you know anything about how that works you know she is very likely to be executed by one of the government agents supposedly protecting her.
So she has asked for asylum in several western countries. One of those countries is the United Kingdom. PM Theresa May refused the request because Asia Bibi’s presence in the country would be bad for “social cohesion.” Her presence might ignite the anger of a certain segment of the British public. Really? Which segment? We all know. While Imams Bush, Obama, Cameron, Merkel, Pope Francis, May, etc. run around telling us that Islam is a religion of peace, that in fact Islam means peace (wrong; salaam the Arabic cognate to shalom means peace) their actions tell us they know they are lying to us. They know they have imported the same lynch mob that is out for Asia Bibi’s blood in Pakistan into Britain. And since our ubermensch are never wrong they’ll condemn innocents to die and shut down the internet so word doesn’t get out.
Just like Monica Hesse advocates in the case of Kemala Harris prostituting her way into power. Suppress the truth, push the sweet lie. Anybody besides me noticing a pattern?

She is a terrible choice for the Dems, but I think she is being pushed to be the favourite. I agree with Trey Gowdy’s comment about Tulsi Gabbard as being authentic and not being easily swayed in the wrong direction. Kamala has gone from being a ‘law and order’ AG of California to the older sister of AOC’s socialism. The Dems have become so transparent with efforts to win, I find them losing. I was a life long democrat, but 2016 changed everything and it has only become worst and more ridiculous. I will not vote for Ms. Harris
